- Develop trained specialists who will contribute to the ongoing development of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
- Foster the development of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery educators, especially in residency programs.
- Encourage the development of new skills and knowledge in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery through basic research and clinical trials.
Fellowship directors are recognized authorities in the teaching and practice of facial plastic surgery.
"Before the days of internships and residency programs, doctors learned through one-on-one mentorship. It's the best way to truly become an expert in something. I hope all my fellows become fellowship directors one day and continue this wonderful tradition." – Dr. Maas
